Best Western Manor Hotel Gravesend Thursday 19th June 2008
The Best Western Manor Hotel, Gravesend, which is privately owned and managed, have now started their refurbishment programme.
The hotel has 59 bedrooms, 10 of which have been completed in rich chocolate brown, gold and cream colours and the second stage is due to start very shortly. On completion, the hotel plans to hold an open evening to launch the new look rooms, so watch this space!
The hotel is situated close to the A2, which is currently undergoing development for the new road/motorway.
The road works are proving quite a challenge for the hotel; however we are in constant liaison with our guests & clients of the situation, as it changes sometimes within days.
The update for the A2 changes from 16th June… the two slip roads that were either side of the hotel, small slip road behind the hotel and the Singlewell/Gravesend exit, are now closed for getting back on and off the A2 coast bound. All traffic has to be directed from the hotel, back to the A227 junction for both London and coast bound traffic. This junction is approximately 1mile from the hotel.
The new slip road at Gravesend East is due to be opened in November 2008; this will then alleviate any of the problems we are experiencing during the mammoth reconstruction of this major trunk road through Kent. When this road is completed at the end of the year, it will of course be so much better for both the volume of traffic that uses the A2, but also it will give the hotel an area of landscaping rather than a 3 lane carriageway beside it.
